Frustrations of failing bureaucracy
The irritation of ridiculous procedures, documents, and other excesses of obnoxious bureaucracy around the world has brought me to the point where I'm now starting this blog. And it's getting worse by the day. New laws, new procedures, more nitwits not properly educated or instructed throughout a growing number of governmental offices.
I encourage you all to add comments with your own experiences, so that together we may be able to get some attention on this growing irritation to everyone's daily life.
After all, aren't our 'elected' governments not supposed to make our lives better? And how about easier?

Changing a Thai driver's license in Portugal
I have been trying to change my driver license from Thailand to a Portuguese driver license for 2 years now in Portugal.
I have all the documents as provided by the Thai Embassy in Lisbon, legalized by the Min. of Foreign Affairs in Lisbon, and all other documents such as health certificate.
The first IMTT Office (the motorvehicle department) in Faro, Portugal refused to accept the request two times. I moved to another juisdiction and after getting a new translation legalized again (the first one expired, yeahyeah), all documents were accepted by a very friendly lady at the IMTT Office (the motorvehicle department) where I now reside, and a temporary license provided awaiting my long overdue Portuguese driver's license.
To my surprise and dismay, I received a letter stating they need a 'Certificate of authenticity' within 10 days. The letter arrived 4 days before that limit.
So I contacted the Thai embassy again (for the fifth time on this matter and having been there 4 times), and their story remains that the translation document states 'Legalized and authenticated' and should be accepted. As a note I would like to add that the consul himself cannot spare more than 2 minutes on the phone, and is not inclined to move a finger to help anybody. Another important business lunch is of more concern, I guess.
After 2 years, and 750 euros later I really need this to be resolved, I need my driver's license to drive my child to school, and the license is a real license and according to the Thai embassy the translation states that it is authenticated, otherwise they would not provide the translation document in the first place.
So thanks to the ridiculous bureaucratic crap of two countries, Thailand and Portugal in this case, I can still not drive a car even though I have a valid Thai driver's license.
The embassy staff of one country keeps saying the same thing 'They must accept the document!', while the motorvehicle offices of the other country keep saying that they need something more. And that something more, the other refuses to provide.
And where does that leave me?
You guess right, I am a very frustrated skilled driver without a driver's license due to bureaucratic rubbish that simply is not functioning.
